The first start is given individually in a beautiful place: the Lu Impostu Beach!
The starting order is in order of birth date, spacing out the starts of those registered for the MedioGiro and the GranGiro (the oldest of those registered for the MedioGiro starts first, then the oldest of those registered for the GranGiro, then the second oldest of the MedioGiro and the second of the GranGiro, etc.); it is displayed when collecting the race numbers and is published on the websites of the GiroSardegna (www.girosardegna.it) and Timing (www.kronoservice.com): the Jury will ensure that the competitors start appropriately spaced to avoid slipstreams.
The road is NOT closed to traffic but is wide, straight, the few intersections are controlled and traffic is light. The first part of the SS125 is completely flat, then the road climbs gently, then a short descent and finally you reach the finish line located right in front of the main Hotel Janna ‘e Sole.
Authorized cars can follow the cyclists in the race but the motorcyclists of the technical escort and the jury will check that there are no technical irregularities.
At the awards ceremony at 6:00 pm in the Resort Theater, the leader jerseys will be awarded (first Man and first Woman) and the MagliaNera to the person with the worst time. The delivery of the leader jersey and the black jersey will then be repeated in all the stages: the jerseys won must be worn on the following day of the race.
THE COURSE: The route is fast and flat with a short climb (not very challenging); even the possible presence of wind will not have a major impact on the performance of the athletes in the race. After starting from the beach, you enter the SS125 and in long straights you skirt the town of San Teodoro; then the short climb begins followed by an equally short descent then you leave the SS125 and go towards the hotel where the arrival is located. The route is NOT challenging and you can develop good speeds: time trial bikes will certainly give you an advantage.
