The GranGiro participants will do 5 laps for a total of 87.25 km – altitude difference 1,270 m
This is the first time that a stage on a circuit has been scheduled for the GiroSardegna and this is of considerable interest: the continuous passages in front of the hotels allow the companions to follow the entire race until its epilogue.
The route includes a couple of climbs of different grades: it is fast but not easy so there will certainly be no sprint finishes!
The Authorities will be asked to completely close the Circuit so that it can be entirely reserved for the race.
THE ROUTE: the Start is located in front of the main hotel; after about a kilometer you enter the SS125 which you follow until the roundabout that precedes the town of San Teodoro; then you go up a panoramic hill and go back down to make the first passage in front of the hotel and to start the second lap, then a third and finally, at the end of the 5th lap there will be the stage finish.
It is very likely that the quarter of an hour between the start of the MedioGiro and the GranGiro will not prevent the strongest riders of the GranGiro from catching up and overtaking the weaker riders of the MedioGiro: this will not be a problem because the roads are wide and it will actually be useful for the slower athletes who can hope to take advantage of the passage of the strongest… and for the GiroSardegna organization to evaluate whether to repeat the experience of the circuit stage in the years to come.
